India lost the match after tremendous super-over drama
The match then went into a super-over when the Bangladesh A captain completely lost his mind as a failed run-out chance led to his overthrow. Harsh Dubey completed three runs and the game went into super over.
Jitesh Sharma and Ramandeep Singh were selected as India’s super-over openers. Rippon clean bowled Jitesh on the very first ball of the super over. Ashutosh Sharma came as the last Indian batsman and was out on the very first ball.
In the Super Over, India got out without scoring any runs with the target of 1 run. Bangladesh also lost a wicket on the very first ball, as Yasir Ali was caught out by Suyyash Sharma. Jitesh Sharma missed the stumping on the next ball, which was declared wide.
The wide ball sealed the winning runs for Bangladesh as they progressed to the final to be played against Pakistan Shaheen.
Will Jitesh Sharma be retained in the Indian team even after being out of the Asia Cup?
Jitesh Sharma was a part of India’s XI while playing against Australia in the T20 series. He replaced Sanju Samson in the Indian middle order with very few batting opportunities. However, his performance with the bat in the Asia Cup Rising Stars has been excellent.
However, Jitesh Sharma was not at his decisive best when he was handed the captaincy of India in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. His terrible decisions even angered youngsters like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and led to India’s exit from the tournament.
