England’s national cricket team’s great batsman Kevin Pietersen has praised the young opening batsman of India’s national cricket team, Abhishek Sharma.
Kevin Pietersen has made a big claim on the 25-year-old Indian national cricket team star, saying that he is the most complete opening batsman in T20 cricket.
Fearless, courageous and talented – Kevin Pietersen on Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek Sharma has set T20I cricket on fire since making his debut for the India national cricket team in July 2024.
His exceptional batting performances helped him become the first-choice opening batsman for the India national cricket team in T20I cricket, and currently, he is the No. 1 ranked player in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.
Overall, Abhishek Sharma has played 29 matches for Team India and scored 1012 runs at an average of 37.48 and a strike rate of 189.51 with two centuries and six fifties. He recently won the Player of the Series award in the five-match series between India and Australia and before that, he won the Player of the Tournament award in the Asia Cup 2025.
It seems that Kevin Pietersen is quite impressed with Abhishek and while re-sharing a post on X, he has described the young player as fearless, courageous and talented.
“Not a surprise at all. Abhishek is the most complete opening batsman in T20 cricket. Fearless, courageous and brilliant!” The great batsman of England wrote on X.

I saw maturity in the way I played on the field – Parthiv Patel
Recently, Parthiv Patel also praised Abhishek Sharma during a conversation on Star Sports. He said that the left-handed batsman showed a lot of maturity in the Australia series and was not working hard blindly.
He said, “Abhishek is known for hitting sixes. One thing that has been seen on this tour is that it is not that he is trying to swing blindly at every ball. I saw maturity in the way he plays in the field. In India, the grounds are generally small. So you are confident that even if there is a fielder at deep square leg, you will clear him and you will get a six.”
“However, here, if the boundary is 75 or 80 metres, it is not cleared so easily. Then you have to hit shots in the pocket. You have to hit shots where there are no fielders. You saw in Abhishek Sharma’s innings in Melbourne and even today. He was creating space and hitting in areas where there were no fielders,” he said.

The day he plays 12-13 overs, India will win most of the time – Parthiv Patel
Parthiv Patel said that Abhishek Sharma will continue to play ultra-aggressive cricket and India will win all the matches where he is in the middle for 12-13 overs.
He said, “He will play like this. Sometimes there will be disappointment that when two fours and a six were hit, was there a need to hit another six. However, I think he will play in this style.”
Parthiv said, “The day he plays 12-13 overs, India will win most of the matches because he bats at that kind of strike rate. One good thing is that he has scored more than 1,000 runs, and with the same style. So you see high-risk, high-reward cricket as well as consistency in Abhishek’s batting.”
