Legendary Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has made it clear that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not require any external advice, as they experience enough to do so and are well aware of how to keep themselves fit to grind.
Ever since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the other two formats of the game, two veterans have had a lot of doubt about keeping with their ODI career, as India is ready for the next ODI World Cup in 2027.
The two giants will be over 40 and 39 years of age by the next World Cup, while India’s future tourism program for the upcoming international calendar has a very limited number of one -day international games.

Cheteshwar Pujara returned Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for one day piece
Cheteshwar Pujara himself declared his retirement from all forms of international cricket this month, and while he felt enough to understand the two Indians and his former companions to understand what he is expected to, they feel that they do not need any advice.
During the Indian Express Idea Exchange, Pujara said, “I do not need to give any advice as they are some of the best players in white-ball cricket. Even though they are just playing a format, they are felt enough to know what they are expected to.”
He said, “He is such a talented player. Look at the records of Veerat and Rohit. They also know when this is the right time to call them. They understand the level of necessary commitment, and if they are fit enough, they can play international cricket for a long time,” he said.
Cheteshwar Pujara Voice Support for BCCI mandate on domestic participation
Pujara has also supported the BCCI’s decision to make domestic participation a mandate for international players.
He said, “It is important for players to play domestic cricket. It increases the standard of the competition. When top players participate, it brings a lot of inspiration, and young domestic players can learn a great deal.”
“At the same time, there is a need to manage the charge. If you are a multi-reversal player, you can’t participate in every game, but you need to identify whether a test series is coming.”
Cheteshwar Pujara said, “For that preparation alone, if anyone can manage to play one or two games, it would be ideal. For batsmen, they should play as much home games as possible.”
Cheteshwar Pujara dropped Bumrah from domestic sports, citing workload concerns
However, supporting the claim made by the BCCI, the former batsman has excluded the choice of experienced bowlers such as Bumrah with a normal domestic piece.
“This may be slightly different for the bowlers. A person like Jaspreet Bumrah needs to manage his workload and cannot be expected to play domestic cricket.”
“But if a young fast bowler is trying to develop his skills in red-ball cricket, he should play more and more matches. The team management and coaching staff in NCA should sit together and find a roadmap for every player,” said Pujara.
