‘Centurian’ Virat Kohli became the victim of Ryan Rickelton’s brilliant catch in Ranchi ODI.

South African cricketer Ryan Rickelton took a brilliant catch to dismiss Indian batsman Virat Kohli in the first ODI of the three-match series at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday, November 30. The right-handed batsman completed his first century on home soil since 2023. He came in at the start of the fourth over but immediately took control of the innings. Kohli changed gears from the beginning. They started attacking the bowlers in the power play, which increased India’s scoring rate and put pressure on the South African bowling attack.

Virat Kohli’s innings ended in the 43rd over. Kohli missed Nandre Berger’s slower ball while trying to hit it over the infield. The shot failed to get the height and Ryan Rickelton ran back from cover, kept track of the ball and completed an excellent catch over his shoulder before falling to the ground.

As soon as Kohli moved forward, the entire stadium stood up to welcome him. He thanked the crowd by raising his bat and was given a warm welcome for his brilliant innings. After seeing his dominance at the crease for most of the time, his dismissal finally brought some relief to South Africa.

Virat Kohli reached 52nd position

Virat Kohli changed gears midway through the innings when India suddenly lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Washington Sundar in quick succession. After the fall of the wicket, he held one end and eventually completed his century by hitting a four off Marco Johnson in the 38th over.

Kohli jumped in the air, roared and punched his fist before kissing the locket he always wears. The moment was briefly interrupted when a fan ran onto the field and fell at his feet, but once the intruder was removed, Kohli composed himself and looked towards the sky with folded hands.

By reaching this historic feat, Kohli overtook Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 51 Test centuries and became the player with the most centuries in an international format.
