Ishan Kishan put India in the driver’s seat against Pakistan by playing a brilliant innings with the bat in the 27th match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday (February 15).
While the batsmen of both the teams struggled to play their shots on the dull and slow pitch of the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Ishan Kishan played a brilliant innings. Even though Abhishek Sharma was out for a duck, the wicketkeeper-batsman played his usual aggressive game and scored a stormy half-century to put India on the front foot.

Ishan Kishan scored a explosive half-century:
Ishan Kishan hit a brilliant six off Shaheen Afridi in the second over of the innings and after that there was no looking back. He played big shots from the beginning on a difficult pitch and scored a record half-century in 27 balls. His half-century in 27 balls is now also the fastest half-century in an India vs Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup.
He ultimately scored 77 runs off just 40 balls. His brilliant innings included 10 fours and 3 sixes. No other Indian batsman could score more than 32 runs in the innings. Thanks to Kishan’s innings, India made a challenging score of 175/7 in the stipulated 20 overs.
Mohammad Siraj’s heart-touching gesture for Ishan Kishan:
A heartbreaking incident was witnessed when Kishan was receiving treatment on the field during his knock. In the 8th over of the innings, he played a reverse sweep against Shadab Khan and injured his knee due to an awkward fall.
While he was lying on the ground and receiving treatment, a beautiful moment of sportsmanship came to light thanks to Mohammed Siraj. The Indian fast bowler was not part of the playing eleven for the match and went out with drinks while Kishan was down.
As the physios were busy with Kishan, Siraj came forward with a beautiful gesture. Feeling the discomfort of the hard surface below, Siraj placed a towel under Kishan’s head to make him more comfortable. It was not complete yet. Seeing the mud and dirt around Kishan’s face and hair, she also gently swept it aside with her towel.

India beats Pakistan:
Talking about the match, India continued its winning streak by completely defeating Pakistan and secured a place in the next round. The defending champions registered their third consecutive win by defeating Pakistan by 61 runs. Chasing 176, Pakistan never looked to contest and were eventually all out for just 114 runs.
Hardik Pandya gave a strong start to India by dismissing Sahibzada Farhan in the very first over, after which Jasprit Bumrah sent Saim Ayub and Salman Agha to the pavilion in the second over. Pakistan could not recover from those early setbacks and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
