The International Cricket Council has announced candidates for the ICC Player of the Month Award for June 2025 on 7 July, including two ICC World Test Championship winners, Kaziso Rabada and Aiden Markram from South Africa, and a Sri Lankan star, Pathum Nissanka.
Both Kagiso Rabada and Aiden Markram played an important role in the victory of South Africa’s ICC World Test Championship (WTC) in Australia last month. On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s trusted opener Patam Nisanka impressed everyone with continuous performance last month.

Kagiso Rabada, Patham Nisanka, and Eden Markram on the Race in the Honor
Well, Kagiso was a star with a ball at Rabada Lord’s, where he bowled 33.4 tight overs, giving just 110 runs and took five major wickets in the first innings- in his 17th five-wicket test. In the second innings, Rabada took four wickets to limit Australia to only 207 runs.
He crossed the famous Alan Donald in South Africa’s list of all-time wickets taking all-time wickets. Rabada now has 336 Test wickets and is in fourth place among the top wicket -taking South Africa in Test history.
On the other hand, Sri Lankan opener Patam Nisanka started a fourth WTC cycle on a high, causing his team to collide back-to-back to help Bangladesh win the home series on Bangladesh. In the first Test in Galle, Nisanka led Sri Lankan’s charge with the best career’s best 187 to give Bangladesh a lead of only 10 runs after posting 495.
He later made 24 in the second innings and helped the islands to secure a draw in the final session. In the second Test, Nisanka once again brought with the bat. After Bangladesh was excluded for 247, he scored a magnificent 158 with 19 borders, directed Sri Lanka for a big lead of 211. This leadership proved to be sufficient, as Sri Lanka won by an innings and 78 runs.

Tazmin Brits, Hayley Matthews, and ICC Player of the Month Award for AFY Fletcher Battle
Speaking of women enrolled people, South African opener Tazmin Brits were in red-hot form in June, scoring 184 runs in the ODI series, on an average at a strike rate of 61.33 and 87.61. Her scores were 57, 26 and 91 balls a brilliant 101, which earned the British to the series award player.

Mathews bounced back in T20I, 147 runs at an average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 120.49. Their scores were 19, 63*and 65, which helped the West Indies win the T20I series 2–1. He also took 2 wickets and was named Player of the Series.
On the other hand, the West Indies leg-spinner AFY Fletcher was a standout bowler against South Africa, who ended as a major wicket-taker in both ODI and T20C series. In the ODI series, he claimed an average of 9 wickets and 5.53 economy, including 3 more races in the second match and 3 more in the third ODI.
He scored 30 runs at a strike rate of 100. In the T20I series, Fletcher took 5 wickets at an average of 16.20 on an average and extended the 6.75 economy and helped the West Indies to seal the T20C series 2–1 against South Africa’s women.
