Rajasthan Royals (RR) claimed victory in spectacular fashion against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Jaipur on May 19. They secured valuable 2 points to stay in the play-off race in the ongoing IPL 2026 season.
With tonight’s impressive win, they are now fourth with 14 points from 13 matches. They claimed the fourth position by defeating Punjab Kings. In their last group stage match, Rajasthan Royals will face Mumbai Indians on May 24.
Will RR be able to make it to the play-offs?
With this situation, will India’s Pink City team be able to secure a place in the next round? Despite an emphatic win over Lucknow Supergiants, some boxes are still to be ticked.
Royals currently have 14 points; If they also defeat Mumbai Indians, their total will be 16 points. Ideally, 16 points are considered enough to make it to round four.
At the end of the group stage, if they manage to score 16 points, they can qualify directly into the play-offs without any further complications. But if they miss those two points against Mumbai Indians, the scenario could be different for Rajasthan Royals.
Qualification scenario for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026
If Rajasthan finishes with 14 points, they will have to see Punjab Kings lose at least one of their games, Kolkata Knight Riders lose at least one of their remaining matches, and Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lose to overtake RR on points or NRR.
If multiple teams clear the group stage hurdle with 14 points, the net run rate will decide which team qualifies for the next round of play. Currently, on the basis of net run rate, it is expected to see a tough competition between RR, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals in the last lap of the group stage.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi again, brilliant!
Tonight, Rajasthan Royals’ batting department was in top form, mainly due to brilliant innings from Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel. LSG scored a huge score in the first innings. Riding on Mitchell March’s inning of 96 runs, they scored a total of 220 runs for only 5 wickets in 20 overs.
Achieving the target was not easy, but with 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi on song tonight, Rajasthan achieved the target with ease. Like Marsh, Vaibhav also missed his century and was out after scoring 93 runs in 38 balls.
His stormy innings included a tremendous number of ten sixes and seven fours. In between, he got some much-needed support from Dhruv Jurel, who remained unbeaten on 53 off 38. Rajasthan won the match with 7 wickets and 5 balls remaining.
