Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are on a three-match winning streak before taking on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium on May 15.

If they maintain their winning streak they can reach 18, but they may still be margin dependent once the net run rate is applied. If they lose a game and finish on 16, they will have to beat SRH, which is a high-risk game for them.
What if they suffer another loss?
If Chennai Super Kings wins only one match out of three, then their total points will be 14, which will create a very challenging situation for them. Finishing only on 14th will mean Chennai will be dependent on the results of five other teams. They have no chance if they lose all three of their remaining league matches, as stated on the official IPL website.
On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants had nothing to lose in this match as they are already out of the title race. As of now, LSG and Mumbai Indians are the only two teams that are out of the IPL 2026 title race.
LSG gets quick win against CSK
That 90-run innings of Mitchell Marsh proved to be decisive. When the batsman scored 28 runs in a single over against Super Kings fast bowler Anshul Kamboj, he became aggressive. Marsh’s innings of 90 runs was off only 38 balls. During this, the opener of Lucknow Super Giants hit nine fours and seven sixes. When he was out, along with those 90 runs, his strike rate was also 236.84.
LSG achieved the target in 16.4 overs and won the match by 7 wickets. Big win for Lucknow Super Giants. Chennai Super Kings will have to go back to the drawing board to rework their strategy ahead of the next match, which will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
