Australian all-rounder Cameron Green had a poor performance after being bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction. On the first day of the third Test during the Ashes 2025-26, right-handed batsman Cameron Green was dismissed by England fast bowler Joffra Archer for a duck in two balls.
Cameron Green attracted bids from Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in the auction. Chennai pushed the price closer to Rs 25 crore, but KKR, which had a huge purse of Rs 64.3 crore, signed the all-rounder for Rs 25.2 crore. Cameron Green has become the most expensive foreign player ever bought in IPL auction history.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first in the third Ashes Test, but England’s bowlers put them under pressure right from the start. Jofra Archer dismissed opener Jake Weatherald, while Braydon Carse dismissed Travis Head for 10.
After this Archer dismissed Marnus Labuschagne for 19 runs and then sent back Cameron Green without scoring. Green came in at number five but faced only two balls before going back to the dressing room without opening the account.
Green’s failure once again attracted attention, with many pointing to his ongoing struggle for form. He has not scored a half-century in any format in the last six months.
Australia were also without Steve Smith, who missed the match due to illness. Pat Cummins returned to lead the team, while spinner Nathan Lyon was included in the playing eleven.
Marnus Labuschagne was out on the very first ball after lunch.
Marnus Labuschagne was out on the very first ball of the second session. He played a loose cross-bat shot which went straight to Braydon Carse at mid-wicket. Labuschagne looked strong before half-time and the manner of his exit was severely criticized.
Former England bowler Alex Hartley called it a very soft out and said that Australia had given England an easy wicket.
Former England bowler Alex Hartley said on the BBC’s Test Match Special, “I honestly can’t believe what we’ve just seen. It’s the softest dismissal we’ve ever seen in this series. They’ve gifted England a wicket. It’s shocking.”
Australia reach 94/2 at lunch after a chaotic start in Adelaide
Australia scored 94 runs for the loss of two wickets before the lunch break on the first day of the third Test in Adelaide. The morning brought sudden drama for the hosts.
Minutes before the toss, Australia ruled out Steve Smith due to nausea and dizziness. His late withdrawal came as a shock to the team, especially as he had trained with the bat the previous day and looked ready to play.
Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first, forcing Australia to make immediate changes. Usman Khawaja made an unexpected return to the eleven after missing the previous match due to back spasms.
The selectors kept things simple and avoided any batting changes. Khawaja stepped straight into Smith’s usual spot at number four, giving Australia some stability after a chaotic start.
