Cameron Green loses temper with journalist ahead of IPL 2026

Cameron Green will appear for a new franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The Australian all-rounder was first picked by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL and was later traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He played a key role in both the franchises and scored 707 runs in two seasons.

Cam Green was bought by KKR in the auction in December last year for a huge price of Rs 25.20 crore. He was the highest paid player in the auction and also the highest paid foreign player in the history of IPL. He left behind Pat Cummins’s record of Rs 20.25 crore and Mitchell Starc’s record of Rs 24.75 crore.

Cameron Green highest paid player

Cameron Green was not in good form during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He failed to register a single half-century in the competition and questions were raised about his form ahead of the IPL. However, just before the toughest T20 league, the all-rounder returned to form and scored a century in the Sheffield Shield clash between Western Australia and New South Wales.

Cameron Green spoke to a journalist after the third day of the encounter. Although he initially declined the interview request, later, while speaking, there was an altercation between the journalist and the cricketer when asked about his century and then his poor form during the T20 World Cup.

It’s obviously a great feeling – Cam Green

“Yeah, it’s obviously a great feeling. We’ve started really well in the first three days, so hopefully we can get a win tomorrow. I’m not going to answer that question. Next question.” Cameron Green told The Age.

As the reporter tried to end the interview, Cameron Green became angry with her questions and fired back. The interview went poorly and the conversation forced Western Australia’s assistant coach, Beau Casson, to apologize after Green left the premises disappointed.

The KKR star concluded, “What a waste of time. Why are you out to get me?” Cameron Green has been one of the most talked about cricketers ahead of the auction last year. He failed to perform well for Australia on the slow and turning pitches in Sri Lanka and this led to many criticisms for the cricketer.

Can Cam Green shine for KKR?

In the T20 World Cup, Cameron Green scored 24 runs at a poor average of 8 in four matches for the Australian team. As a result, Australia failed to qualify for the next round. However, with both completely different conditions to play in, Green prefers to bat in India.

Green missed the IPL 2025 season due to a serious back injury that required surgery. He will be a key player for KKR in the upper order along with players like Finn Allen and Ajinkya Rahane.

He has been chosen as a similar replacement to Andre Russell, who retired after being released by KKR. The Knights would like him to utilize this order as his best season in 2023 was batting at No. 3 and opening the innings for Mumbai Indians.
