Just a day before the IPL-2026-mini-auction, Cameron Green’s price reached Rs 30.50 crore and CSK star Mathisha Pathirana was snapped up by Kolkata Knight Riders in the mock auction conducted by the official IPL host, Star Sports.
Many surprising moves were made in the IPL mock auction conducted by Star Sports. The auction was attended by several cricket experts representing 10 different teams in the IPL. While Rajasthan Royals were represented by Aakash Chopra, Sanjay Bangar and Cheteshwar Pujara represented PBKS and GT respectively.
Abhinav Mukund represented MI with the lowest purse, and Irfan Pathan led LSG. Suresh Raina bid for his former team, Chennai Super Kings and Anil Kumble bid for RCB. Robin Uthappa had the biggest purse to spend with KKR, and Mohammad Kaif and S. Badrinath represented Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Cameron Green bid heavily in IPL mock auction
The live coverage of the mock auction began with huge anticipation among the English players, as many of the shortest format’s best talents were at stake. Even former cricketers looked extremely excited to bid on the players in the mock auction. These auctions give a rough idea of the teams interested in bidding on particular players.
The auction started with disappointment for former CSK batsman Devon Conway, as he remained unsold. Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw is next in the list and was bought by DC for Rs 2.75 crore after going unsold last season in the original mega-auction.
The third name on the list is probably the most awaited player of the upcoming mini-auction. Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is making a comeback in the Indian Premier League after missing the last season due to injury.
CSK and KKR, the two teams with the highest purse, were all set to play hard for the big all-rounder. The bidding war between the two sides for Cameron Green crossed Rishabh Pant’s Rs 27 crore mark, and he was eventually sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping Rs 30.50 crore.

Jake Fraser-McGurk was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 2 crore, after which Delhi Capitals made a big purchase in the form of Protea middle-order batsman David Miller. At Rs 9.5 crore, Miller could be crucial to DC’s lower-order troubles.
Suresh Raina looked the smartest as he bought Sarfaraz Khan for CSK and then bid for Sri Lankan leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and spent just Rs 9 crore for the pair. Later he made another quirky, smart selection in the form of spinner Rahul Chahar for Rs 10 crore.
Venkatesh Iyer, the third-most expensive player of the IPL 2025 mega-auction, who was released by Kolkata Knight Riders, saw a huge drop in his salary. RCB bought him for just Rs 6 crore and reduced his salary by Rs 17.75 crore.
These 5 players got the highest bid in the mock auction
Among several other significant bids, Liam Livingstone went to Lucknow Super Giants at the second position for Rs 19 crore. KKR and GT got one wicketkeeper each in the form of English pair Jonny Bairstow and Jamie Smith for Rs 2.5 and Rs 2 crore.
Badrinath made his debut for SRH as did Akash Deep, while Anrich Nortje also joined CSK for Rs 7.5 crore. Mathisha Pathirana went into crores. to KKR, due to their high purse, while Gerald Coetzee was picked up by SRH for a whopping price of Rs 8 crore.
Ravi Bishnoi made the only bid of Rs 11.50 crore for Aakash Chopra, representing Rajasthan Royals, while Lungi Ngidi and Chetan Sakariya went for Rs 6.5 crore for the DC and RCB teams respectively.
