Cameron Green’s poor form continues for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026. At home ground Eden Gardens, the Australian batting all-rounder was out after scoring only 4 runs facing 2 balls. He lost his wicket just after hitting a four.
Punjab Kings bowler, Green’s Australian counterpart Xavier Bartlett got the second wicket for his team. Kolkata Knight Riders soon found themselves in trouble, as they had already lost a few wickets inside the power play. KKR is losing wickets instead of scoring runs at Eden Gardens.
Cameron Green’s wicket put KKR under immediate pressure
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and decided to bat first. Three-time IPL champion KKR has not yet opened its points table in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) season.

Since making his debut for KKR in the current season, the Australian star cricketer has been struggling with his batting. Before being out for 4 runs in today’s match, the 26-year-old could only score 18 and 2 runs against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively.
In the IPL 2026 mini auction, the Purple Brigade bought Cameron Green for a whopping price of Rs 25.20 crore. Before the auction, it was speculated that the franchise might buy Green following the retirement of Andre Russell. With Russell’s replacement, Green immediately garnered a lot of expectations before the start of the season.
Controversy over C
Instead of making headlines because of phenomenal performances, Green’s name came into limelight because of a controversy. In KKR’s opening match of the season, which was against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, the seam bowling all-rounder did not bowl a single.
After the conclusion of the match, Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane was asked to explain why Cameron Green did not bowl. Instead of making any strong comment, Rahane said that only Cricket Australia (CA) can give the correct answer. Hours after Rahane’s comments, CA released a statement, mentioning that the franchise is well aware of the player’s limitations.
It is believed that Cricket Australia is limiting his bowling to ensure his rehabilitation following surgery due to ongoing workload management due to his lower back injury.
Until Green starts performing well as a bowler, the team will have to use him as a regular batsman. In today’s match, he came to bat at number 3. Green started well and hit a four against the PBKS fast bowler. But it didn’t take long to lose the wicket.
