After the Australian all-rounder overtook Mitchell Starc to become the most expensive overseas player in the history of the league, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting made a funny comment on the player’s auction price.

Ponting himself is a part of the IPL with Punjab Kings; However, considering his duties as a commentator in the Ashes, he has not been able to travel to Abu Dhabi for the mini-auction.

“We’re hearing over 250 million, I don’t know exactly… but it’s a lot of money,” Ponting said, laughing. The amount is estimated to be between about 2.8 million USD and about 4.2 million Australian dollars (AUD).

KKR makes its second big bid with Mathisha Pathirana

Kolkata Knight Riders performed as was expected from them. They had the biggest purse in the auction and were expected to go all out for the two most awaited players in the auction, Cameron Green and Mathisha Pathirana.

After Green’s early dismissal, he went after Mathisha Pathirana. Although the initial bidding was made between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders took charge and bid up to Rs 18 crore for the young Lankan pacer.
