Brian Lara ordered CWI to appoint Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, and Kieron Pollard to revive the West Indies

Veteran cricketer Brian Lara urged the Cricket West Indies (CWI) to urge Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard in efforts to revive the team. Lara also said that his recent experience and strong relationship with the current players make him an ideal patron to deal with the team’s ongoing talent drain.

West Indies cricket is in a serious crisis after its recent huge defeat. The team lost three Tests and five T20Is against Australia, including a record low score of 27 in a day and night Test match. He then lost the T20i series for Pakistan, but recovered an ODI series of 2–1 under captain Shai Hope with a win.

Brian Lara urged CWI to appoint Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard

In an Instagram post, Brian Lara said that Cricket West Indies should include Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard in mentioning the current squad. Lara said that he can guide, motivate and address the challenges faced by modern West Indian cricketers.

“In particular, I believe that former players like Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard have a unique and timely perspective that can prove to be priceless. These people have not only played at the highest level, but have done in an era that reflects the minds, ambitions and motivations of the modern athlete,”.

He said, “Their proximity with today’s players – in the context of generational alignment and shared dressing room – gives them a authentic understanding about the modern West Indian cricketer driving, distracting or then,” he said.

Posted exceptionally well to offer that clarity – Brian Lara

Brian Lara said that Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo can improve communication and assistance in reviving cricket. He said that the board should face structural and psychological challenges currently affecting regional sports.

“Chris, Dwayne and KP, in the Global Franchise Circuit and through their journey in the service of West Indies Cricket, are exceptionally well deployed to offer that clarity,” Lara wrote.

“If we are building a permanent solution – a one that re -combining the performance with the purpose – we must attach all those who carry the relevant insight. It is a moment for collective knowledge, not isolated intervention. The deeper the back of the experience, the more equipped we will, the more we will be equipped that we work together.”

World Cup winning captain Darren Sammy Coaching West Indies

Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo, who last represented the West Indies in the 2021 T20 World Cup, shared the dressing room with Brian Lara. After Lara’s retirement, Kieron Pollard joined the team in 2008, and played his most recent match for men in Marun in 2022.

The team failed to qualify for both 2023 ODI World Cup in India and 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan and Dubai.

It is worth noting that T20 World Cup winning captain Daran Sammy is currently head coach, but the results do not meet expectations under his tenure.

Earlier this year, Nicolas Goran and Andre Russell retired from international cricket. While Russell’s retirement was estimated, Gorn’s decision surprised many due to his ability.
