Brian Lara and Viv Richards angry after Roston Chase was out for zero in Delhi Test

It happened in dramatic fashion when Ravindra Jadeja completely deceived Roston Chase with his sharp turn and clever flight. The West Indies captain tried to flick the ball from Ravindra Jadeja towards the leg side, but gave an easy return catch to the left-arm spinner.

The shot went completely against the turn and the Indian all-rounder made no mistake in completing the catch. Brian Lara and Viv Richards were quite disappointed by his dismissal. As Chase walked away disappointed, the camera showed Lara and Richards in the stands, clearly disappointed.

Both the legends pointed out that the right-handed batsman should have played the ball towards the off side instead of going against the spin. With Roston Chase out, West Indies were in trouble at 107 for 4, putting their hopes of a strong comeback in jeopardy.

Poor performance of West Indies opening batsmen continues

Meanwhile, the poor performance of West Indies opening batsmen continues against India in Delhi. They have now gone 40 innings without a single century partnership, and their last 50-run opening partnership came in 10 innings.

Since that last opening 100, the first wicket has added only 20 runs on average, which shows how poor his start to Test cricket has been.

Shai Hope holds the fort as West Indies suffer another defeat against India

In their second innings, West Indies are struggling at 140 for 4 in 43 overs, with Shai Hope making 31 runs from 46 balls and Tevin Imlach batting steady with 14 runs from 31 balls. India’s spinners are maintaining pressure. Washington Sundar has bowled 7 overs without taking any wicket and given away 23 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja has bowled lethally, taking 3 wickets in 14 overs, which shows why he is such a big threat.

Despite showing more fight than in Ahmedabad, the Windies continued to lose focus at crucial moments, which cost them valuable wickets in Delhi. West Indies’ John Campbell was out in a strange manner, but Tangerine Chanderpaul and Alek Athanaz managed to stabilize the innings by putting on a 66-run partnership for the second wicket.

That resistance did not last, as Chanderpaul’s wicket triggered a short collapse. Shai Hope is playing positively and Tevin Imlach is looking calm and confident at the crease. There are still runs left on the wicket, which will give the Windies a chance to regroup and aim for stronger batting on the third day.

Earlier, India declared its innings at 518 for 5 with the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 175 and Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 129 runs in the ongoing second and final Test against West Indies in Delhi.
