Brendon Taylor returned to one -day international level after four years during the first ODI series of the three -match series against Sri Lanka in Harare on Friday, 29 August. Taylor went to the all-time top three for the longest ODI career and held the record for the longest career among the batsmen who debuted after 2001.
The 39-year-old was banned in 2022 after confessing to accept $ 15,000 from an Indian businessman in 2019. The former captain re -included the national side this month after completing his suspension. He scored 44 and 7 runs in Zimbabwe’s innings against New Zealand.

Taylor all-time moved to the top three for the longest ODI career, overtaking Pakistan veteran Javed Miandad (20 years, 272 days). Only Sachin Tendulkar (22 years, 91 days) and Sanath Jayasuria (21 years, 184 days) have been spread in men’s ODI cricket for a long time.
Taylor also became a player with the longest Test career among cricketers who started in the 21st century. Since 1989, only Sachin Tendulkar has a long career, plays 24 years and 200 matches in a day.

Brendon Taylor has been a backbone of Zimbabwe’s batting for almost two decades, distributing the match -winning performances. He is also the country’s leading centenary scorer in Odis, named 11 named.
The right-handed batsman is second in Zimbabwe’s major run-goldter list. He is behind Andy Flower, he needs more than a hundred runs to cross it. Taylor scored 433 runs in just six innings, including two centuries during the 2015 World Cup.
Taylor has played 206 ODI matches and scored 6684 runs at an average of 35.55, including 39 half -centuries, not the highest score of 145.
Speaking of the match, Zimbabwe opted to bowl first after winning the toss in the series opener. Zimbabwe captain Craig Erwin was excluded due to a calf injury, and senior all-rounder Sean Williams has been asked to step as captain for the series.
Star all -rounder Vanindu Hasranga was dropped from the ODI to the one -day leg due to a hamstring problem. His participation in the early stages of the Asia Cup is uncertain.
