BPL match fixing: Sylhet Titans official blows whistle on his own player!

A fresh allegation of match-fixing in the BPL has rocked Bangladesh cricket amid the ongoing venue disputes ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from next month. As of now, it is unclear whether the Bangladesh cricket team will participate in the tournament or not, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has raised safety concerns for cricketers in India.

Now, a fresh allegation of match-fixing during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2025-26 (BPL 2025-26) is a big blow for them. After the Rajshahi Warriors vs Sylhet Titans BPL 2025-26 play-off match on Wednesday, Sylhet Titans advisor Faheem Al Choudhary made some serious allegations of match fixing through a live session on Facebook. Faheem claimed that the result of the match came due to wrong procedure. He believes that there has been betrayal in his own camp.

Rajshahi Warriors vs Sylhet Titans BPL 2026 remains the topic of discussion

Batting first, Rajshahi Warriors scored an impressive score of 165 runs in 20 overs at Sher-e-Bangla in Dhaka. Sylhet Titans got off to a great start in the second innings with Parvez Hussain Emon, one of the team’s openers, scoring 48 runs.

The match was tight in the middle hours as the team batting second was trying its best to meet the required run rate to achieve the target score. At one point of the match, Sylhet needed 40 runs in 21 balls.

But things fell apart for them during the closing stages of the game. Rajshahi eventually won the match by only 12 runs, eliminating Sylhet from the tournament. After the match, Faheem, looking disappointed with the result of the match, announced his resignation in front of the media. Later he came on Facebook Live and made some explosive claims.

“The match was seriously contaminated” – BPL team advisor

Addressing the supporters of the BPL team, he directly said that the match was not fair; It was tainted, as he had good information from a reliable source, pointing to possible match fixing.

He said, “Today’s match was seriously tainted. I have received credible information that a person involved in the match sold himself out. He lied to us, betrayed Sylhet and betrayed the Sylhet Titans. Most importantly, he cruelly betrayed the sentiments of the people of Sylhet.”

BPL match fixing: Money may be involved in the case

He further claimed that there was a high possibility that, for good money, someone would have polluted the game. Faheem vowed to take the matter seriously through the investigative process.

He said, “There was no need for this. He could have told me how much money he needed and it would have been arranged. This truth has truly broken me. I will not let it end here. The matter will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible.”
