This was a major relief for BCCI, as there were intensive calls for India to boycott any India vs Pakistan matches after the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year.
However, even before the approval of the Government of India, BCCI decided to move forward with the Asia Cup 2025, including the India vs Pakistan Khel, despite the uproar on social media.

The policy of the Indian Sports Ministry states, “India’s view for sports events related to Pakistan reflects its overall policy in dealing with that country. Insofer is worried as bilateral sports programs in each other countries, the Indian team will not participate in competitions in Pakistan. Nor will we allow Pakistan teams to play in India.”
It further reads: “In relation to international and multilateral events in India or abroad, we are directed by the practices of international sports bodies and the interests of our own players. It is also relevant to keep in mind India’s emergence as a reliable place to host international sports events.
Accordingly, the Indian team and individual players will participate in international programs, including Pakistan’s team or players. Similarly, Pakistani players and teams will be able to participate in such multilateral programs organized by India. ,

Just after the announcement, Indian cricket fans slammed the Indian government to allow the BCCI to move forward with India vs Pakistan at multi-national programs like Asia Cup.
