Australia will play Border-Gavaskar 2027 without any rest and heavy pressure

Cricket Australia has already announced a busy international schedule for the 2026-27 season, and it is one of the toughest schedules in recent years. The Australian team will play 10 test matches in just 14 weeks between December and March.

This leaves the Australian team with almost no time to rest before their much-awaited tour of India. Cricket Australia described the India tour as the “final frontier” for senior players like Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon, as none of them have been able to win a Test series in India so far.

Keeping in mind the importance of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2027, the Australian board has already decided that Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood will not play the opening matches of IPL 2026 to manage their workload and keep themselves fresh for this long and tough tour.

After the India tour, Australia are likely to play the World Test Championship final in June and then directly participate in a long five-match Ashes series in England from June to August.
