Bollywood and television actress Khushi Mukherjee has addressed the debate over her recent comments about Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav in a conversation with NDTV. Mukherjee said that his comments were misinterpreted and confirmed that there is no romantic relationship with the Indian middle-order batsman.
A recent comment by Khushi had earlier started a discussion within the cricket community. With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup just weeks away and Suryakumar already confirmed as captain of the Men in Blue, his comments were considered a distraction, raising concerns about their impact on team cohesion.

Khushi Mukherjee, while talking to NDTV, has given clarification on her recent remarks regarding Suryakumar Yadav. He said there was “no romantic relationship” between them and said his comments were misinterpreted.
While talking to NDTV over phone, Khushi said that people misinterpreted her words. She revealed that they had only talked as friends in the past. The actress also claimed that her Instagram account was hacked, which added to the confusion.
Khushi further said that she is no longer in touch with Suryakumar and has not spoken to him even after the controversy started. He said that once after losing a match he had talked to him as a friend, but nothing more than that. He concluded his speech by wishing India and Suryakumar all the best for the World Cup.

Despite leading India to the Asia Cup title in 2025, Suryakumar Yadav has been under scrutiny due to his recent decline in batting form. Khushi Mukherjee’s unexpected comments off the field further increased the attention of the Indian captain.
His comments came when Suryakumar was on a private visit to Tirupati temple with his wife Devisha. The right-handed batsman has not responded publicly on this matter.
She had said, “I don’t want to date any cricketer. Many cricketers are after me. Suryakumar used to message me a lot. We don’t talk much now. I don’t even want to associate my name with him. I don’t like the news of my link-ups.”
