Big blow to RCB due to injury of Devdutt Padikkal in Ranji Trophy semi-finals.

Devdutt Padikkal got injured in Ranji Trophy semi-final

Devdutt Padikkal was injured during the Ranji Trophy semi-final after injuring his hand while attempting a diving catch at gully. This incident happened on the fifth ball of the 75th over. Abhay Negi drove the ball to Prasidh Krishna and Devdutt Padikkal caught the ball with both hands but failed to stop it.

During this, Padikkal’s finger got injured and he immediately left the field for treatment. Karnataka will be hoping that the injury is not serious as the setback could also be a matter of concern for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as the IPL season approaches.

Notably, the left-handed batsman did not come to bat in Karnataka’s second innings. Shreyas Gopal came in at No. 3 but was out for a duck, while Karun Nair batted at No. 4, the same position he had occupied in the first innings.

Karnataka has strengthened its hold in the Ranji Trophy final

In reply to Karnataka’s mammoth 736, Uttarakhand struggled badly with the bat and lost wickets at regular intervals. Vidyadhar Patil led Karnataka’s bowling effort by dismissing both the openers cheaply and putting immediate pressure on the batting unit.

Lakshya Raichandani showed patience and resistance in difficult conditions and scored 55 runs in 174 balls. The biggest partnership of the innings came for the last wicket, where Janmejay Joshi and Aditya Rawat added 58 runs to delay the innings.

Uttarakhand was eventually all out for 233 runs. Patil finished with figures of 3/40, while Vishak Vijayakumar also claimed 3/45. After this, Karnataka decided to bat again and strengthened their hold to make it to the Ranji Trophy final.

Karnataka decided to bat again rather than enforce follow-on in order to give their batsmen extra time in the middle before the final. They made one small change at the top, with Kritik Krishna promoted to open alongside Mayank Agarwal.

At the lunch break, Kruthik Krishna was unbeaten on 17, while Mayank Agarwal made 21 before being dismissed, giving Uttarakhand an early wicket in the second innings. Shreyas Gopal was sent in at No. 3 as Karnataka reached 39/1, taking their total to 542 runs.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir created history by qualifying for their first Ranji Trophy final. They defeated Bengal in their own conditions, resulting in a historic result for the team.
