This is a historic achievement for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He is playing his 200th runth IPL match tonight at Ekana Cricket Ground. In a remarkable achievement, he is the first bowler to enter the record books.
With this mammoth record, Kumar joins an elite list of players in the league. Star cricketers like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja have played more than 200 games in their respective IPL careers. Now Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also joined this list.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 200th IPL match
Before the match, Kumar talked about his achievement and discussed his journey so far in the franchise league.
“It’s really special – any milestone, really – and playing 200 matches is a huge achievement in itself. So, naturally, I’m feeling very happy. Also, I think the best thing is that I’m achieving it with a team that won the trophy last year and is playing exceptionally well this season; it makes it even better,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar told the broadcasters.
“It’s very difficult to choose just one, but if I had to name something really special, I would choose my first wicket. My journey started so many years ago, and that first wicket is always something special.”
“So, yes, things are going well right now. It is definitely demanding, especially considering the way the format has evolved… Given the way batsmen are changing and the kind of aggressive approach they are taking during the powerplay, it is always a daunting challenge to constantly improve one’s game,” he added.
