If I am the captain of that team, I am disappointed with that result – Michael Clarke
Speaking to the YouTube channel of Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast, Michael Clarke said that 2-2 scorline is not something that England should be proud of because at home, he hoped that he was expecting to win the Test series easily against the young Indian team.
“This England team … I think, 2-2 draw in my own backyard, if I am the captain of that team, I am disappointed with that result. I want to win, especially in my terms. I think they must have come to the series in the hope of winning,” Clarke said.
I am not taking India lightly, but I think they are too much – Michael Clarke
Michael Clarke further said that India’s national cricket team was “overchise” in Anderson -Tendulkar Trophy against England as he was a new leader – Shubman Gill – and two absolute superstars – without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma – who retired before the test series.
“I am not taking India lightly, but I think they are too much, especially with the lead-up for the series.
“If the India lost the series, people respected and understood. The new captain, two of their senior players are not playing Test cricket, the best bowlers in the world are playing only three of the five matches … I think England is expecting to win. India has put the series ahead 2-2.
England’s next major challenge in Test cricket is the upcoming Ashes 2025-26 series against Australia Down, while India’s next test series is at home against West Indies.
