Another big news came a few days before the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026). Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has reportedly been sold to the Birla Group.
On the evening of March 24 (Tuesday), Harsh Goenka informed about this big step through a small ‘X’ post. “RCB sold to Birla! Great move”, Harsh Goenka shared the information on social media at 7.39 pm.
As soon as he shared the information, cricket fans started noticing it rapidly. Here, in the post, ‘Birla’ may refer to the Aditya Birla Group, which is chaired and controlled by Kumar Mangalam Birla.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was sold by Birla Group!
However, there has been no official confirmation regarding this move. Recently there was news that Birla Group has shown keen interest in purchasing the ownership rights of IPL franchise. If the latest claims are to be believed, this is definitely a solid move by them as RCB won their first IPL silverware in the last Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season, and they will be playing as the defending champions in IPL 2026.
