The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has responded to this Controversy related to Vaibhav Suryavanshi Following his on-field altercation with Vishen Halambaj. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia urged India A players to focus on their cricket instead of getting distracted by off-field controversies.

The viral incident occurred after the triangular A series match between India A and Sri Lanka A at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla on Sunday, July 15. The match ended in dramatic fashion, with both teams scoring 265 runs each, before Sri Lanka A won in the Super Over.
He should focus on his game instead of getting distracted – Devjit Saikia on Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Devjit Saikia urged India A players to remain focused on the ongoing triangular A series and avoid getting distracted by off-field controversies. He said that this tournament is an important opportunity for young cricketers to impress the selectors and strengthen their claim for a place in the senior national team.

“India A is playing a major tournament, all the upcoming players who can stake their claim for the Indian senior team are in the middle of a very big tournament, the tri-nation series, so they should focus on their game rather than getting distracted by any other issues,” Saikia told TOI on Tuesday.
Sri Lanka A scored 16 runs in the Super Over and gave India A a target of 17 runs. However, India A could manage only nine runs as fast bowler Kugathas Mathulan kept Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Suryansh Shedge under pressure to give the hosts the win.
Players only focus on their game – Devjit Saikia on Vaibhav Suryavanshi incident
Devjit Saikia said that the board will not directly intervene in the controversy related to Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Vishen Halambaj. He said player management and disciplinary matters are handled by the team management and coaching staff.

“It is not our duty to talk to the players for any reason. The players only focus on their game and the support staff and coaches present with them, nothing else. Therefore, no one interferes with their game and their strategy and their preparation for the big series that is currently going on.”
“We will follow the policy that during a big tournament when they are playing for the country, they should not be distracted by any other secondary issues which are not of paramount importance. The important thing is India’s win and good performance in the tri-series. So, that is our focus and apart from that, we are not doing anything at this stage.”
It seemed as if the team was playing against 13 players – India A
The Times of India report claimed that the players were unhappy with several umpiring decisions during the match. Many important decisions went against India A and there was disappointment in the dressing room after the defeat.
The source said, “It looked as if the team was playing against 13 players. Some of the on-field decisions by the match officials were highly questionable. Shez (72 off 66 balls) was wrongly declared caught out at the long-on boundary because the fielder’s boot had stamped the rope. The decisions of no-balls and wides in the final over were questionable. The umpires decided to play a super over only after Sri Lanka A agreed to it.”
Before the tension escalated, Suryansh Shedge turned his bat towards Vishen Halambaj. Vaibhav Suryavanshi then became involved in a brief physical confrontation with the Sri Lanka A player. Suryavanshi was also seen exchanging gestures between Halambaj and Vanujya Sahan during a verbal altercation.
