The protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi had also made headlines in the cricket world, as several former cricketers and their wives shared their views on the ongoing protest. Now Rajiv Shukla, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared his views.
While talking to PTI, Rajeev Shukla has criticized the current government and demanded that the government should respond to the protesting students. All of them urged for the resignation of current Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after the NEET paper leak which led to the exams being canceled citing suicide of many students.
Rajiv Shukla criticized the Indian government for making false promises.
Rajiv Shukla responded to Home Minister Amit Shah’s tweet, saying that the government has expeditiously resolved the case in the speed court. Shukla believes that nothing will be solved in this matter and he also says that the government should pay attention to the demands put forward by the students.
Rajiv Shukla said on the protest at Jantar Mantar, “Fast-track or “speed” courts will not solve anything. Instead, the government should focus on the three demands put forward by the students. The entire opposition continues to maintain that their primary demand is the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.”

Rajeev Shukla commented that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should be held responsible for the paper leak and sought accountability of the minister for all the mishaps, and also said that the government is scared.
“After all, who is responsible for answering questions and participating in debates on education-related issues? He is the Education Minister. When the entire movement is focused on holding Dharmendra Pradhan accountable, it is difficult to see how he can be expected to respond objectively to the debates and allegations directed against him.”
“So, here you are fighting on the steps of Parliament. Inside you are saying that we should debate. So, how did the two-way discussion happen? So, the internet is suspended, the metro station is closed. It means the government is scared.”
Earlier, India’s former World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh had commented on the safety of female students protesting around Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and Sansad Marg. He did not make any political comment nor blame anyone.
Instead, the former Indian all-rounder said that every child, student, woman and man should get the opportunity to learn and pursue their aspirations without any fear and also get good job opportunities.
Wives of cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah – Ritika Sajdeh, Devisha Shetty and Sanjana Ganesan respectively – commented on the same matter and posted messages or videos related to the protest.
Apart from her, Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta expressed her views on the protests, and faced backlash for her comments as she supported the students, but she claimed that the protests are being “hijacked by anti-national elements.”
