The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided on the punishment for Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag.
During RR’s win over Punjab Kings on 28 April, TV cameras caught Parag lighting up an e-cigarette and “vaping” in the dressing room.
The incident sparked a major controversy and the BCCI indicated that it would decide on the punishment for Parag.

Earlier, a BCCI source had said that the board will seek clarification from Parag on his actions and then decide on further action.
Now BCCI has decided on the punishment of Parag. It was decided that his actions had brought the game into disrepute and so he would be fined 25% of his match fee.
“Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been fined 25% of his match fee and also collected one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 40 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Punjab Kings,” the IPL’s official statement read.
“Ryan was found to have breached Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to “conduct that brings the game into disrepute”. The incident occurred during the second innings when Ryan was seen using a vape inside the dressing room. Ryan pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the penalty imposed by the match referee, Amit Sharma.”
“The BCCI is also exploring other options to initiate strict action against the erring team, its officials and players to ensure that the reputation of the IPL remains intact,” the statement further said.
