Former India’s chief selector and captain, Dilip Vengsarkar, has chosen left pacer Arshdeep Singh and left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav in their playing XI for the Manchester Test match against England.
The fourth Test match of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 between India and England is scheduled to be played at Old Trafford from 23 July.

In an interview with Revsports, Dilip Vengsarkar was asked if India should consider changing for the fourth test of the five -match series against the three Lions.
Dilip Vengsarkar responded by naming Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav in the team in Manchester. He said:
“I will choose Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav. Arshadeep is a good left -handed bowler, who can take the ball away from the air and wicket, which is important in English conditions. He can also reverse the ball, which is important. I have seen him bowling.”
Vengsarkar said that all-rounders Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar should make way for expert bowlers as Tests cannot be won with part-time. He said:
“I will leave Nitish Reddy and perhaps another player to make a place for Arshdeep. I think Siraj and Bumrah should keep their places, but Reddy can make way. Kuldeep Yadav can also change someone like Washington Sundar. You need five bowlers in a Test match. If your six batsmen cannot give a good match, the bowlers do not need a good match.

Young all -rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington beautiful have been civilized in the five -match Test series, and have got good support from head coach Gautam Gambhir.
Reddy was brought on from the second Test match from the second Test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham, where he scored 1 and 1 and returned to India’s major win with 0/29 figures.
In the later Lord’s Test match, Reddy greatly improved his performance and registered scores of 30 and 13 and bowling figures of 2/62 and 1/20.
Talking about Washington Sundar, he was also added to the XI of playing from the second Test, and so far, he has done a good job for the side.
In Edgbaston, he scored 42 and 12* and had a bowling figures of 0/73 and 1/28, while in Lords he recorded a score of 23 and 0 and the bowling figures of 0/21 and 4/22.

Vengsarkar also said that the quartet of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Sirj, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav would be fatal if the conditions are enough for them. He said:
“You definitely need five bowlers, and Kuldeep Yadav can be a good option if the situation supports spin. With Bumrah, Siraj and Arshdeep, as well as spinners like Kuldeep, will be the right mix of bowlers in India. They can win with this combination, but the batting should take responsibility.”
The mythological figure in Indian cricket was also optimistic on the chance of the opposition to Shubman Gill in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and supported him to win the series. He said:
“India has the ability to win both series and manchester tests. They simply need to play for their ability. They have got a strong team with a lot of talents. I believe they will do well and win the test.”
