Karun Nair fails in six consecutive innings against India

Nair has given a string of excellent performance in the five -match test series in England after returning to the side after eight years.

The 33 -year -old, has not been able to use the second opportunity the most that cricket has given him, and he is on the verge of axing the XI.

Despite receiving a good batting track in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Nair has failed to score in half a century. In six innings, he has scored an average of 131 runs at an average of 21.83 and scored the best of 40.

He batted at number 6 in the first Test, but was then promoted for the next two matches in number 3. At the headingley in Leeds, he recorded scores of 0 and 20 and followed it with another disappointing outing at Edgbaston in Birmingham, returning with a score of 31 and 26.

In the Lord’s Test match, Nair disappointed with a 40 -run knock in the first innings and a 14 -run knock in the second innings. Along with losing the match at Lord’s in London in India, there is a high probability that Nair can be dropped from the edge.

He is working hard, but the results are not coming – Devang Gandhi

Meanwhile, former India selector and Delhi Ranji coach Deong Gandhi has highlighted the technical issue of Karun Nair and said that despite hard work, the batsmen are not getting results.

Gandhi said, “Obviously, he is doing a hard yard before the concentration lapse. Save the first innings in the leads, he has played a minimum of 30 delivery in each innings which means he is working hard, but the results are not coming,” Gandhi told PTI.

“In the case of Karun, they have a trigger movement, which is a late trifle than someone like Shubman Gill. If you look closely, Karun’s front-up is still in the air at the point of release for a pace bowler. Now if the front-foot is in the air at that point, it means that if he wants to go on the backfoot, it means that it is late.

“Now, you can handle a vokes at his speed, but Archer, Cars or even Stokes that can slip in heavy delivery here and be difficult to handle,” Gandhi explained.

You have to see the future – Sai Reformson named Karun Nair’s replacement

Dewang Gandhi, as well as former India national cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman Deep Dasgupta, further said that Gautam Gambhir should bring Sai Reformson to XI for the rest of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and leave Karun Nair.

Dasgupta said, “You have to look at the future. Karun is near 34 and Sai is 21 years old. If you have already decided that you will invest in Sai, allow him to get the experience of playing Test in England. He is a task in progress and only better,” said Dasgupta.

Even though Nair has not seen ‘bad’ in any way during his six innings on English earth, the lack of big scores can contribute to his ax.
