Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Deepak Hooda has landed in trouble ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, which is scheduled to be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. The BCCI has informed all ten franchises about the suspicious-action category, which also included Hooda during the last IPL season.
Hooda had a very poor performance with Chennai Super Kings in the 2025 season. The franchise had released him before the auction. The all-rounder has played 125 IPL matches, scoring more than 1,500 runs and taking 10 wickets. He is now part of the AL1 all-rounder category for the much-awaited auction.
Trouble for former CSK star Deepak Hooda ahead of IPL 2026 auction
According to a report in Cricbuzz, Deepak Hooda’s bowling future in the IPL has become uncertain after being included in the list of players with questionable action for the second consecutive year.
Hooda appeared in seven matches for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025, but did not bowl at all. If a BCCI review confirms his action was illegal, he could be barred from bowling in the 2026 season.
The board has informed all ten franchises about the latest notice regarding HUDA, just days before the mini-auction on December 16. Notably, Hooda bowled only one over in the Ranji Trophy and five overs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he took one wicket.
Apart from Hooda, only one other player, Jammu and Kashmir’s Abid Mushtaq, is currently in the BCCI suspect-action list.
