BCCI had sent its instructions weeks ago, expected to follow all areas, but the South region has chosen a different route. Instead of following the BCCI instructions, they are glued with the designated squad in July, as the only center contracted player on the side with Tilak Verma.

Officials in the South region believe that Ranji Trophy artists deserve their opportunity to play in the Dalip Trophy, and if BCCI wants to see top stars in domestic cricket, they should make their participation in Ranji Trophy mandatory or India should use a match to test them.

Prepare India stars for other Zone Duleep Trophy 2025

While other regions have followed the BCCI instructions, Central Zone drafts in Kuldeep Yadav, Eastern Zone named Mohammed Shami and Ishaan Kishan, West Zone named Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer named West Zone, and North Zone chose Shubman Gill in its squads, but the south region challenged the board. However, Gill has been dropped from the tournament due to his illness.

As runners -up as the last version, the South region is already eligible for the Duleep Trophy 2025 semi -finals, starting from 4 September.
