Former Ranji cricketer of Mizoram K. Lalremruta died after collapsing during a local cricket match in the state capital on Wednesday, January 7. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement on the death of Lalremruta and expressed condolences to his family and the cricket community.
The local cricket community is shocked by the death of Lalremruta. It is noteworthy that this incident happened during the Khalid Memorial Second Division Screening Tournament match. Lalremruta collapsed on the field and received immediate assistance before being taken to medical care, but doctors were unable to save him.

After the death of Lalremruta, all cricket matches in Mizoram were canceled
Of. Following the demise of Lalremruta, the Cricket Association of Mizoram decided to cancel all cricket matches scheduled for Thursday as a mark of respect to him. The association said that these games will be played later when the new schedule is ready.
Lalremruta represented Mizoram in domestic cricket. He played two first-class matches and appeared in seven Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy games between 2018 and 2022.
The Cricket Association of Mizoram said in a statement, “He represented Mizoram twice in the Ranji Trophy and seven times in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has also played for several clubs at the local level. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family; may they console them as they overcome this great loss.”

Mizoram Sports and Youth Services Minister Lalnghinglowa Hamar shared that Lalremruta suffered breathing problems during a local match between Venghnui Raiders Cricket Club and Chawanpui ILMOV Cricket Club.
The Minister expressed his condolences to Lalremruta’s family, friends and the wider sporting community and described this as an extremely painful moment for everyone involved.
“He experienced difficulty breathing during the match between his team, Whanganui Raiders Cricket Club and Chawanpui ILMOV Cricket Club. My heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family, friends and members of the sporting fraternity during this difficult time,” he said.
