BCCI humiliated Ravindra Jadeja, surprisingly forced…

Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is ready to make a comeback in domestic cricket after being dropped from the team for the three-match ODI series in Australia. The left-arm spinner will represent Saurashtra in the upcoming Ranji Trophy clash against Madhya Pradesh, which will be played in Rajkot from October 25.

Jadeja missed out on selection for India’s tour of Australia as the team management opted for all-rounders Axar Patel and Washington Sundar. However, the selectors made it clear that Jadeja can still be an important player in India’s ODI setup. Notably, Jadeja had announced his retirement from T20 Internationals.

The experienced spinner played a key role in the 2025 Champions Trophy, where he took five wickets and contributed 27 runs, helping India secure the title.

According to a report in Times of India, Ravindra Jadeja will represent Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy second round match against Madhya Pradesh. The all-rounder will use the opportunity to get match practice ahead of India’s upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa.

Saurashtra Cricket Association President Jaydev Shah confirmed Jadeja’s participation. With the selectors testing young left-arm spinners like Harsh Dubey and Manav Suthar in the India A series against South Africa A, Jadeja will feature in the domestic red-ball tournament.

“He told us that he will play for Saurashtra in this edition of the Ranji Trophy. He has always been keen to play for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy,” Saurashtra Cricket Association president Jaydev Shah told TOI on Thursday.

Ravindra Jadeja plays regularly for Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stressed that players should participate in domestic cricket for their state teams whenever they are fit and not busy with national or India A duties.

Ravindra Jadeja has consistently represented Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy. The 36-year-old left-arm spinner took 12 wickets in just two matches last season, including 7 for 38.

In first-class cricket, Jadeja has taken 569 wickets at an average of 24.20 and scored 8,143 runs at an average of 45.49, including 14 centuries and two triple centuries.

Jadeja also played a key role in India’s innings and 140-run win over West Indies in the first Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium. He scored 104 unbeaten runs and took 4 wickets for 54 runs in the second innings.

Ravindra Jadeja for Team India in ICC ODI World Cup 2027?

Ravindra Jadeja said that he was not surprised by the omission and said that the team management maintained clear communication. The 36-year-old all-rounder retired from T20Is after India’s World Cup win last year, but is committed to being a part of the 2027 ODI World Cup squad.

Jadeja said selection decisions were beyond his control but confirmed that he wanted to continue playing for India. “The selection is not in my hands. I definitely want to play,” Jadeja said in his press conference after the second day’s play against West Indies in the Delhi Test.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that leaving out Jadeja was strategic. The management chose only one left-arm spinner in the series, choosing Washington Sundar for his batting depth and Kuldeep Yadav for his wrist-spin variety.

“At the moment, we can only take one left-arm spinner for the Australia series. It was not possible to fit two. Ravindra Jadeja is absolutely in our plans – everyone knows how good he is and what he offers as an all-rounder and fielder,” Agarkar said.
