The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a major change in the support staff of the Indian national cricket team. BCCI has shown the door to T Dilip and appointed Subhadeep Ghosh as the new fielding coach of the Indian team with immediate effect.
The announcement has been made by the BCCI after reviewing India’s recent fielding performances across all formats. The BCCI was not happy with the fielding standards of the team and decided not to extend T Dileep’s contract after the recent England tour ended. Meanwhile, Ryan ten Doeschate resigned as India’s assistant coach; KKR ready to make a comeback.
BCCI sacks T Dilip, appoints Subhadeep Ghosh as India’s new fielding coach
There was already speculation that T Dileep would not get an extension in his role as India’s fielding coach after the team’s poor performance since he rejoined the team last year. And now a journalist of Times of India revealed that BCCI has dismissed Dilip from the post of fielding coach.
He further informed that former Assam and Railways player Subhdeep Ghosh has been given this post by BCCI, the official announcement of which is expected to be made soon. With Subhdeep Ghosh taking charge, the BCCI hopes that India’s fielding will improve as the team heads towards a busy international season.
The new fielding coach’s first assignment will be the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, where India will play two WTC Tests in August. Interestingly, India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has resigned from his post after his two-year contract with BCCI expired with the England tour.

Who is Subhadeep Ghosh?
Subhdeep Ghosh is not a new face in Indian cricket. Ghosh represented Assam and Railways in 17 first-class matches and 17 List A matches in domestic cricket during the 1990s and early 2000s. He was a right-handed batsman and also a good off-spinner.
After his retirement, Ghosh shifted his focus towards coaching and became a fielding specialist. Over the years, he worked with several teams and earned praise for improving the fielding standards of the players.
One of the biggest achievements of his coaching career came with the India Under-19 men’s team. As a fielding coach, he helped the young players improve their skills and played a key role in winning the 2026 Under-19 World Cup title.
Ghosh also served as the fielding coach of the Indian women’s cricket team. He also worked as a specialist fielding coach with Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
BCCI announces test squad for Sri Lanka test
Earlier, BCCI announced the squad for the Sri Lanka Test. Uncapped 33-year-old all-rounder Saransh Jain has received his first Test call-up for India’s two-match series against Sri Lanka after Washington Sundar was ruled out of the first Test with a hamstring injury.
Ravindra Jadeja has returned to the team after being rested for recent assignments. Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudarshan have been selected on the basis of fitness clearance, while Nitish Kumar Reddy missed out as he continues his rehabilitation.
