The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalized a pool of 350 players for the IPL 2026 mini-auction to be held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Notably, the board added 35 new players to the final list at the request of the franchises, who were not part of the earlier presentation.
A total of 350 players will go under the hammer in the much-awaited IPL auction. At least 1355 players had registered and the BCCI had asked all ten franchises to submit the names they were interested in. Notably, the board cut down the list and even added 35 players who were not part of the original registration.
BCCI shortlists 350 players for IPL 2026 mini-auction
According to a report in Cricbuzz, BCCI informed the teams that 350 players will be a part of the event. The accelerated bidding stage is expected to begin after the first 70 names, the report said.
“The auction will feature 350 players and will begin on Tuesday, December 16, at 1pm UAE time (2.30pm IST) at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi,” the BCCI said in a mail to franchises on December 8.
“For your planning purposes, please note, subject to timing, it is envisaged that the accelerated process will commence after player number 70.”
“The first quick will include all players from 71-350. Once these players have been submitted, the franchises will be requested to submit the names of all those players (untraded and unsold) from the complete list of 350 for further quick submission.”
Quinton de Kock added as surprise late entry to IPL 2026 auction list
South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has unexpectedly re-entered the IPL auction pool after being left out of the preliminary list. A franchise late put forward his name and the BCCI approved it.
The opening batsman has set his base price at ₹1 crore, which is half of his salary in the last mega auction, when KKR signed him for ₹2 crore. Notably, BCCI’s revised list also includes several other new foreign names, such as Sri Lanka’s Trawyn Mathews, Binura Fernando, Kusal Perera and Dunith Velez.
Players from Afghanistan and West Indies have also joined the pool, while more than 20 uncapped Indian players, including Vishnu Solanki and Parikshit Valsangkar, have been added to the domestic options.
The auction day will begin with the capped players being grouped based on role playing before moving into the uncapped categories. Big names like Cameron Green, Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Prithvi Shaw and David Miller are part of the initial batch, while Venkatesh Iyer is included in the first all-rounder group.
