Following reports of the incident, the Bangladesh Cricket Board issued an official statement expressing deep concern over the alleged treatment of one of its national players. The governing body also strongly condemned the alleged conduct towards the spinner and demanded an impartial investigation into the matter.

The statement further said that the BCB expects a thorough and impartial investigation, and urges the relevant authorities to take appropriate action against anyone found responsible. The BCB president also addressed the issue publicly through a Facebook post and confirmed that the board had taken action immediately after learning about the incident.

“The Bangladesh Cricket Board expresses its deep concern about the alleged incident involving harassment and ill-treatment of Bangladesh national team cricketer Nayeem Hasan by some law-enforcement agency members in Chattogram on Friday evening,” the board said in a statement. The Board strongly condemns the unacceptable and inappropriate conduct displayed towards the player and takes the matter extremely seriously. Such behavior towards a national athlete is extremely regrettable and needs immediate attention. Whatever happened to Naeem Hasan last night is not acceptable. Naeem Hassan details alleged attack in Chattogram

According to reports, Nayeem was traveling in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw near Lalkhan Bazaar area of ​​Chattogram when police officials stopped the vehicle. The off-spinner later alleged that the officials behaved aggressively and refused to listen despite repeated attempts to identify himself.

“I repeatedly told them who I was, but they refused to listen. The police beat me indiscriminately with sticks and plastic pipes. Later, when I identified myself at the police station, the officer in charge asked me to keep my eyes down while speaking. If they were really police officers, why did they try to put me in the CNG instead of the police vehicle? I want a fair investigation and justice on the entire incident.” Naeem said.

The spinner was eventually released after his identity as a Bangladesh national cricketer was confirmed. Later he returned home early on Saturday.
