
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issued a strong response following serious sexual harassment allegations made by the fast bowler. Jahanara Alam Against former selector Manjurul Alam. BCB President Aminul Islam announced zero tolerance
Responding to the allegations, BCB president Aminul Islam announced that the board has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of sexual harassment within its ranks. The BCB has also launched an official investigation, forming a special investigation committee that has been directed to submit its findings within 15 working days.
“You asked a question, and here’s my answer – zero tolerance. Thank you,” When questioned about the board’s stance, Aminul was firm.
Aminul stressed that no one within the organization – even top officials – would be spared if found guilty. “If the allegations were against me, they would investigate me too. If the committee recommended my removal, I would have to step aside. There would be zero tolerance, be it the chairman, a director, or any staff member.” he claimed.
BCB forms inquiry committee to probe harassment case of women cricketers
As part of its immediate measures, the BCB has reassigned four staff members associated with the women’s team to special duties pending the outcome of the investigation. The investigation committee, comprising both independent experts and senior BCB officials, has been directed to ensure impartiality, transparency and accountability during the investigation.
Aminul reiterated that due process must be followed, ensuring that the investigation protects the integrity of everyone involved while delivering justice. “Even the Prime Minister of this country is not above such rules,” He stressed that it is not a matter of power but of principle.
The Bangladesh government has also stepped forward to cooperate in the investigation. Through its Sports Advisor, the government promised full cooperation with the BCB and expressed readiness to involve law enforcement agencies if necessary. Officials confirmed that Jahanara Alam will receive full protection and that her allegations will be taken with the seriousness they deserve.
The sports advisor said that the safety of women in sports is a national priority and incidents of harassment should be eliminated from all levels of Bangladeshi cricket.
