The Asian Cricket Council is a common body that deserves a decision on the cricket tournament that will be played between the teams within the continent. One of the largest such tournaments is the Continental Championship of the Asia Cup.
The Asian Cricket Council meets once a year for its annual meeting. This time, with an important decision, it is a turn to host the annual conference of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) continental body.
Although it seems to be a great opportunity for the nation, several heavyweight cricket boards, especially BCCI, have allegedly sought a favor to transfer the annual meeting from Dhaka from ACC, as under the current political scenario, they will not be able to send their officers to the neighboring province.

BCB hopes that each ACC member will be placed on board for the annual meeting
On Monday, BCB President, Aminul Islam claimed that he was ready to attend every member of the Asian Cricket Council for the annual meeting, which is scheduled in Dhaka on 24 July.
BCCI participation has been under uncertainty, while claims were also made that Sri Lanka cricket officials have also decided to exit the ACC general meeting.
These decisions were done amid political tension between the two countries, as the BCCI and BCB jointly postponed the India vs Bangladesh White-Ball Tour to be held in August this year. Allegedly, officers who do not visit Bangladesh are likely to be available online.
Aminul rejected any such possibility of non-participation, as he said (as quoted by Cricbuz), “We will do an official dinner on 23rd and Dhaka in Dhaka in Dhaka, where almost every country will participate.”
“Asian Cricket Council is the maternal body of cricket, or governing body of cricket in Asian Cricket Council, and first, we have never hosted a major meeting of the Asian Cricket Council.”
The head of the BCB said, “This is a big achievement for us, and everything is still going on according to the plan (as far as the ACC meeting is concerned), and you will receive more updates in the appointed time.”
The fate of Asia Cup 2025 will be decided in this meeting
Despite the claims of non-participation in the ACC annual meeting, the meeting has not been excluded from Dhaka. The ACC is currently under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi, head of Pakistan Cricket Board.
The BCCI has already been sent an official notice on the future of the Asia Cup, and if the board wants to maintain hosting rights, they will have to adapt to a hybrid model like the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
However, many such important decisions were awaited, the uncertainty of BCCI participation in the annual meeting has also brought uncertainty on the fate of the Asia Cup 2025.

BCB president hints on Shakib Al Hasan’s return to Bangladesh
An important insight to the BCB President’s press conference has been the availability of Bangladeshi legend Shakib Al Hasan. He has been implicated in several legal matters, and therefore, his availability for Bangladesh has been serious doubt.
Experienced all-rounders Shakib, along with tests, have also been retired from T20I format, and their return will probably be possible only in ODI format.
“Shakib is available as a cricketer. He has not yet retired from all formats of Bangladesh,” Aminul said. “I will talk to him, and we will take a decision after talking to him.” I have not been in contact with Shakib for some time. Since taking this responsibility (as BCB President).
