Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has denied any uncertainty regarding Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh. He has clearly said that no such thing has been told to him by the PCB.
Despite ICC accepting all their pleas, Pakistan missed the chance to qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup semi-finals. They played all their games in Sri Lanka, but still, they could not win against any border country as they lost to India and England and had a near-defeat against Sri Lanka before being eliminated.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, expressed regret at opposing the ICC for the change of venue citing unnecessary security concerns in India, where they were originally scheduled to play their games. Following their exclusion, Scotland were brought in as immediate replacements.
Will PCB withdraw from Bangladesh series?
According to some reports in the international media and Geo Super, Pakistan is unlikely to travel to Bangladesh due to rising tensions in the Middle-East, which may put the series in doubt.
Pakistan recently flew home from Sri Lanka and within a week they will have to travel to Bangladesh again. However, BCB officials have reiterated that they have not been formally informed by the PCB about any uncertainty.
Media reports had claimed that the PCB would go ahead with the tour only if the current situation in the Middle East did not worsen, but with Iran waging war against America’s allies, the trip remains a risk.
BCB rejects claims of uncertainty for upcoming tour
BCB officials have dismissed such reports and said that they have not received any communication from the PCB regarding any possible changes to the scheduled series. Rather, he emphasized the fact that preparations for the series are continuing as planned.
BCB further stated that with direct flights available from Pakistan to Dhaka, they do not anticipate any travel complications as Pakistan does not need to use the Dubai gate.
The BCB also told The Daily Star that there are no further security concerns in Bangladesh and the board is hopeful that the series will go ahead as scheduled.
Bangladesh looking for direct World Cup qualification in 2027
Pakistan are scheduled to arrive on March 9, and a three-match ODI series is scheduled to begin on March 11. Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
This series is important from Bangladesh’s point of view, as they look to enter directly into the ICC World Cup 2027. They are currently 10th in the ICC ODI team rankings and could be replaced by Zimbabwe, who are in good form.
Bangladesh regrets boycotting the T20 World Cup and would not want the same to happen with the ICC World Cup 2027.
