Another ultimatum has been issued to the BCB by the Bangladesh cricketers, as they have sought written assurance from the BCB that the Director, Nazmul Islam will resign within the next 48 hours, and only then will they play the second game today; Otherwise BPL will be closed again.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board considered not traveling to India for the ICC T20 World Cup after Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the upcoming 2026 IPL edition following anti-Bangladesh agitations in the country. However, during its decision, the BCB was advised by former player Tamim Iqbal to reconsider its decision.
However, BCB director Nazmul Islam claimed that Tamim Iqbal is an ‘Indian agent’ and also that the players will suffer financial loss if Bangladesh does not play in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 in India.
Bangladesh cricketers appeal for written confirmation on BCB director’s resignation
Bangladeshi cricketers and the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh have come to the defense of Bangladeshi cricketers and former Bangladeshi great Tamim Iqbal.
CWAB has publicly demanded Nazmul’s resignation and threatened a boycott if the standoff continues, raising the stakes ahead of major matches. The BCB has finally agreed to his terms and said that it will take around 48 hours for the official resignation.
He has urged him to give them in writing that he will resign within 48 hours, and then play today’s game; Otherwise, BCB will have to compensate the players for violating the rules.
BCB has said that it will take approximately 48 hours for the official to resign. Even if we play another game today and he doesn’t resign after 48 hours, what will happen? We will close BPL again. If BCB gives us in writing that he will resign within 48 hours, then we will play today. If he doesn’t… https://t.co/j4LIAR5FSm

Mehdi Hasan Miraj criticizes BCB director for his bad statement on Tamim Iqbal
Bangladesh cricketer Mehdi Hasan Miraj has strongly opposed the BCB director’s comments and mentioned that it is not only extremely disappointing but has also fueled public discussion about how Bangladesh cricketers are paid.
Miraz said, “We always say that the board is our guardian. When such comments come from their side, it is extremely disappointing for us.”
When Miraz talked about the many allegations that used to come up when cricketers’ performance declined and they were held responsible for taxpayers’ money, he clearly said that it did not happen that way.
Miraj said, “The money the board has today is the result of every match played wearing the Bangladesh jersey. It has been earned through the hard work of the players. Everyone has their fair share in it.”
Miraz commented, “We play ICC tournaments and that’s why we are making money.”
This statement is not just about a statement but also about basic economics and respect. He highlighted that BCB’s financial independence is entirely due to the performance of the players which keeps the game commercially viable.
“We play ICC tournaments, and that’s why we are earning money. If there is no cricket, sponsors will not come. ICC’s revenue will also not come. The board is still standing there because players go out and play,” he said.
“It’s not just an individual issue. It’s embarrassing for the entire sporting sector. I don’t know whether those comments were made intentionally or unintentionally, but from a person in that position, such comments are absolutely unacceptable,” Miraz said, considering the fact that officials’ words are given special emphasis and can spread faster and more widely.
