India-Bangladesh Cricket War: Following Mustafizur Rahman’s exclusion from the Kolkata Knight Riders camp for IPL 2026, the BCB has decided to write a formal notice to the ICC to urge the BCCI for clarity on the security arrangements for its players, fans, media and sponsors during the ICC T20 World Cup.

There has been a major conflict of interest between India and Bangladesh on many aspects, including geopolitical boundaries, religious tolerance and the recent atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. But no one expected that this would affect the relations between the two cricket boards.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia not only issued instructions to remove Mustafizur Rahman from the KKR team but also denied any certainty of the Bangladesh tour, the schedule for which the BCB had already announced.

T20 World Cup 2026 security: BCB to question India’s security arrangements for ICC T20 World Cup

According to a report in Cricbuzz, after insult after insult the Bangladesh Cricket Board is now fuming and is demanding clarity on BCCI’s security arrangements for its players, fans visiting the country, media personnel and finally its sponsors.

The BCB has informed its intention to write to the ICC seeking a detailed update on the security arrangements in India ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The board took this decision after Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the KKR camp due to the growing influence of the anti-Bangladesh campaign.

In such a situation, it is natural for BCB to be concerned about the safety of its soldiers. The decision was taken by the BCB directors in Sylhet. Rahman’s condemnation received a massive reaction across the country and hence, like the PCB, the BCB has also started reconsidering playing its group matches in India.

“We are sending a letter to the ICC which has three sections in it. Firstly, we would like to know from them about Mustafizur (being out of the IPL) and secondly, what is the security plan for us at the World Cup? More so because not only will the players be traveling to India, but the media, fans and sponsors along with them will also be going there to watch the World Cup. What will be the security situation for those who go there?” a top BCB official told Cricbuzz.

From the BCB statement, it seems clear that they not only want clarity on the security arrangements, but are also seeking clarification on the sudden omission of Mustafizur Rahman after his inclusion in the KKR camp in the mini-auction.

“We are also sending an email to the BCCI to get the true picture as to why Mustafizur was dropped,” the official said.

Mustafizur was by no means making his IPL debut, as he has been playing there since 2016. He has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals in the past, before Kolkata Knight Riders showed keen interest in signing the 30-year-old Bangladeshi superstar.

bangladesh world cup schedule 2026

Bangladesh, like all other teams, will travel to India ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, as they are scheduled to play their first match on February 7. Bangladesh, placed in Group C along with West Indies, England, Nepal and World Cup debutant Italy, have strong chances of making it to the next stage.

The opening match against West Indies will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, a city filled with outrage over atrocities against Hindus. They will then move on to face Italy at the same venue on the 9th, followed by the third game against England in Kolkata on the 14th.

Their only game outside Kolkata is against Nepal, their last group stage game which is scheduled to be played in Mumbai on February 17.
