Due to the increasing tension in the cricket world between India and Bangladesh, the situation around Mustafizur Rahman has taken a dramatic turn. Rahman’s IPL participation has now turned into a major controversy involving cricket boards and officials from both the countries.
BCB cancels Mustafizur Rahman’s NOC, rules him out of IPL 2026
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) released Mustafizur Rahman following BCCI’s order due to political pressure, following which Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took a strong and final step.
As protests grew in India over attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, the BCB reviewed the matter at the highest level. According to Cricbuzz report, Bangladesh Cricket Board held a meeting which included senior officials of the board and concerned officials.

After discussion, the BCB decided to cancel Rahman’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) for IPL 2026 with immediate effect. The board felt that the current situation is not safe enough for the left-arm fast bowler to travel or participate in IPL 2026.

Bangladesh Cricket Board has also made its position clear on this. Even if Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) change their mind or try to bring back Mustafizur later, the Bangladesh pacer will not be allowed to play in the IPL under the current circumstances.
With BCB withdrawing the NOC, Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL 2026 campaign is not only officially over, but there is no way for him to play for KRR in the tournament, at least in the upcoming season.
What can I do? Mustafizur is shattered
Earlier, Mustafizur Rahman had expressed his disappointment over his release by KKR. The left-arm fast bowler was quoted by BDcrictime as saying, “If they leave me, what can I do?”
Notably, Mustafizur was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 9.20 crore after an intense bidding war with Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals in the IPL auction 2026 last month. He has already played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and KKR in the tournament.

BCB seeks answer from BCCI on Mustafizur’s exclusion from IPL
There is growing disbelief within the BCB at how quickly the situation changed. They were earlier confident of a positive relationship with India and had even announced the schedule of the India tour, but the sudden cancellation of Rahman’s IPL contract has left the board in a dilemma.
BCB officials are now waiting for a clear clarification from BCCI to understand why this decision was taken. PTI quoted a BCB source on condition of anonymity as saying, “BCB announced the schedule of India’s tour of Bangladesh because there was a sense of positivity, but now we need to get official confirmation from the Indian board as to why Mustafizur’s contract was cancelled. Till now BCCI has not officially informed BCB anything. Only after the official communication BCB will decide on the further course of action.”
