Tim Ward and Mitch Owen ended the chase early
Hobart’s reaction was explosive. Openers Tim Ward and Mitch Owen mounted a brilliant counterattack and scored 108 runs without any loss in just 8.2 overs. Ward played a brilliant inning of 90 runs in 49 balls, while Owen scored 45 runs in just 18 balls.

Sydney Thunder bounced back briefly through Daniel Sams, who provided a glimmer of hope with figures of 3 for 36. However, that momentum was short-lived as Nikhil Chaudhary remained patient.
Choudhary remained unbeaten on 29 off 14 balls, helping Hobart reach 206 for 4 and record the highest successful run chase ever at Angie Stadium. The win also marked a record BBL chase at the venue.
