Cricket Australia has officially announced a full stability list for the much awaited 15th edition Big Bash League (BBL)From January 25, 2026, from December 14, 2025, stadiums were set across the nation to ignite. The announcement made on Thursday has set a platform for expecting the most competitive and star-staded season in the history of the tournament.
BBL | 15 season highlights and major dates
The 2025-26 BBL season will open with a blockbuster clash between the Perth Scormers and Sydney Sixers at the Optus Stadium on December 14, a few days before the third Ashes Test in Adelaide. There will be 40 matches in the regular season, which will conclude on 18 January, the final series from January 20 to January 25 with The Eve of Australia Day. This scheduling ensures that fans can enjoy the climax of the tournament before the national holiday, making the appearance and number of audiences maximize.
Extended access to Australia’s test players
In a significant boost for fans and franchisees, Australia’s test players will have a rare, uninterrupted two -week window to attend BBL after the closing of the house Ash seriesWhile the ash will still affect the availability of the player, Cricket Australia is optimistic that many Marki names – including select batsmen, bowlers and all -rounders – will be included in the later stages of the regular season and in potentially. This is a notable improvement from previous years, where international commitments have limited the participation of the test player.
Teams, venue and rivalry
All eight franchises- Adlade Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart StormMelbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scormers, Sydney Sixers, and Sydney Thunder- will compete in a round-robin format, playing each team home and away matches. Optus Stadium (Perth), Sydney Cricket Ground, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Gabba (Brisbane), and Blandstone Arena (Hobart) will once again host action, ensure that fans can make the fans a witness to the nationwide spectacle live.
Classic rivals including Sydney Smash (Sixers vs. Thunder) and Melbourne Derby (Stars vs. Renegades) have been brought back to the list of stability, as well as with high-day doubleheaders and festive season shodowns.
Structure for Playoffs and Finals
At the end of the regular session, the top four teams will move forward in the knockout stages. The final format remains unchanged:
