For the series, BCB selection has made some notable changes in the team. They have dropped Taskin Ahmed and Shamim Hussain. In their place, Bangladesh has selected Mohammad Saifuddin and Mahidul Islam Ankon for the first two T20 matches.

Notably, Taskin Ahmed and Shamim Hussain were part of the team that played the last T20 series against the West Indies national cricket team. Additionally, Saifuddin was a part of the T20 series against Afghanistan, which the Bangla Tigers won 3–0.

Talking about Taskin Ahmed’s absence from the team, BCB chief selector Ghazi Ashraf Hussain said in an official statement that the senior fast bowler was given NOC to participate in the Abu Dhabi T20 League, and he is currently not available for selection.

“Taskeen has NOC, so he is not available to us at the moment,” Hussain said. “We know he will play for Bangladesh whenever we ask him to, but we are well aware of the plans.

“We have not considered Shamim Hossain’s name for the first two T20s. We have selected Mahidul Islam so that we can try someone in the top four.”
