The Bangladesh national cricket team will be up against the Zimbabwe national cricket team for the entire tour, consisting of a one-off Test, which is currently underway, followed by a three-match ODI series and then three T20I matches. Bangla Tigers have suffered a huge blow before the ODI series; T20I captain Liton Das has already been ruled out of the Test match.

Apart from being ruled out of the Test, Liton Das, who was expected to start the ODI series, will also miss the first ODI. He is not fit to play the first ODI in Zimbabwe on July 6, but should be able to play the next two matches on July 9 and 11 respectively.

“We are hopeful that he will recover by the end of the third week”- Bezedul Islam Khan on Liton Das’ injury

Bangladesh team physio Bezedul Islam Khan has informed that he is suffering from Grade I calf muscle injury. Islam also revealed that Liton will take two to three weeks to fully recover from the injury and the management is hopeful that he will be fine by the end of the third week.

“Liton Das is suffering from an injury to his left calf muscle. It is a Grade I injury. It usually takes two to three weeks to recover from such an injury. Two weeks have already passed. We are expecting him to recover by the end of the third week,” Bayjedul said.

“His chances of playing in the first ODI are almost zero, but if he meets all the parameters of our fitness test then he should be able to play in the second and third ODIs.”

Liton Das will be fit for the second ODI

Team manager Nafees Iqbal confirmed Liton’s arrival in Zimbabwe on 1 July. The rest of the team members are already in Zimbabwe. Despite not being fully fit, Liton Das has been allowed to join the ODI squad for the three-match series in Zimbabwe, which will follow the current one-off Test.

Das last played in the ODI series against Australia at home in mid-June, but he missed the next three-match T20I series, which Bangladesh lost 3-0 and Zimbabwe also bowed out of the Tests. He will also not play in the T20 series, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already provided No Objection Certificate (NOC) to him and Taskin Ahmed to play in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

Bangladesh was out for 140 runs

Apart from this, captain Mehdi Hasan Miraz has also returned to the ODI team, who could not play the third match against Australia due to injury. Earlier, he was rested from the Test team on the Zimbabwe tour.

In the only Test, Zimbabwe bowled out visiting Bangladesh for just 140, with Newman Nyamauri taking four wickets in the first innings, and now Chevron have taken an 86-run lead as Innocent Kaiya scored a brilliant century.
