Bangladesh demand rematch with India in Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 as Rizaan Hossan vows to break Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Bangladesh Under-19 all-rounder Rizaan Hossan has declared war on India Under-19 as they seek a repeat of last year’s final in the ongoing Under-19 Asia Cup 2025. Rizaan Hosan has also given a stern warning to India’s batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Hosan has made it clear that the Bangladesh Under-19 team is fully prepared to keep Vaibhav Suryavanshi quiet when they face the India Under-19 team in the tournament. The seam-bowling all-rounder, who played a key role in Bangladesh’s title win last year, believes his team has enough match-winners to handle the teenage powerhouse.

Bangladesh plans to silence Vaibhav Suryavanshi again

Notably, Bangladesh had already defeated India in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2024, where Suryavanshi was out for just 9 runs as he executed his plans against them with precision. Now, ahead of his first game in the tournament, Rizan insists that his team has the strength to stop Vaibhav Suryavanshi again and defend his title.

The 14-year-old batsman has been in great form across all formats this season. He recently dazzled Eden Gardens with his unbeaten 108 off just 61 balls with seven fours and seven sixes for Bihar during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025.

With this innings, the left-handed batsman became the youngest player to score a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, proving that age is no barrier to his talent. And now on Friday, 12th December, Vaibhav made a great start to this edition by scoring another century (171).

We have players who can stop him: Rizan Hossan

But the Bangladesh team is unfazed, with Rizan insisting the team strongly believes in each other, as they did during last year’s title-winning campaign.

“Why not? (on stopping Suryavanshi). We have star players in our team. Every single player in the team is a match-winner. We all supported each other every moment last year and that is why we were successful in winning the title. I am confident that Bangladesh will win its second consecutive title this year,” Rizaan Hosan was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

The young all-rounder said, “Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a star cricketer. We have seen his performances in recent times. He has been in great form. But we have players who can stop him. We just want to go out in the middle and give our best performance. Last year’s celebration is still alive for all of us. We still feel that moment. But that is in the past now. It is a fresh journey, and I am confident that Bangladesh will perform brilliantly.”

We only want to face India in the final: Rizaan Hosan

He reiterated that he wants to see India in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 and he wants to defeat them again. Hosan said, “I am confident that Bangladesh will reach the final. The only team we want to face in the final is India and we want to beat them again.”

Bangladesh will have to defeat Group B opponents Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal before facing India in the next round. India Under-19 are currently facing UAE in the opening match of the tournament, and they are looking for a big win over the hosts at the ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai.
