Police have filed a charge sheet against a Bangladesh ‘A’ team cricketer for allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulting him. Cricketer Tofail Ahmed Rehan has been accused of assaulting girls after promising to marry them.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board is grappling with allegations of assault, as several former women cricketers have made such allegations against board members. Moreover, many cricketers have also been accused of committing such crimes.

Police have filed a chargesheet against a Bangladesh A team cricketer, as fast bowling all-rounder Tofail Ahmed Rehan has been accused of sexually assaulting young women on the pretext of marriage.
Gulshan police station sub-inspector Mohammad Samiul Islam had said on Thursday that the charge sheet was filed under Section 9 (1) of the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act.
Cricbuzz quoted Islam as saying, “The charge sheet has been filed under Section 9(1) of the Prevention of Repression of Women and Children Act.” Investigators have gathered evidence, including the woman’s statement, hotel booking records and even medical records that support the allegations.
Several women alleged that Tofail Ahmed Rehan sexually exploited them
The court is set to review the charge sheet, and the hearing is scheduled to begin on December 30. The documents of the case clearly revealed that the alleged cricketer had contacted the women on social media. Supposedly, they met through Facebook and immediately started a relationship.
The conversation on messenger developed in such a way that the woman believed it was a romantic relationship and the conversation continued even after the cricketer promised to marry her. She also alleged that on January 31, Tofail took her to a hotel in Gulshan and sexually assaulted her.
She claimed that such things happened several times, and later, he refused to marry her after she filed a complaint against him on August 1, accusing him of sexual violence.
Tofel continues to play for Bangladesh A with anticipatory bail
In September, a High Court of Bangladesh granted him anticipatory bail and directed him to surrender before the women and children. Repression Prevention Tribunal after expiry of bail period. There is also mention of violation of this court order in the police report.
During this period of anticipatory bail, he traveled with the Bangladesh A team to Hong Kong, where they played a six-a-side tournament and he represented the team in the national shirt. Now the matter is being taken seriously and court proceedings are awaited.
