Bangladesh team operations manager Nafees Iqbal said the team took a cautious approach after Mehdi Hasan Miraz suffered a head injury during the second ODI against Australia. He revealed that the captain’s vomiting on the field raised concerns and he was admitted to the hospital for observation.

“He (Mehidy) was under observation for about 12 hours at Evercare Hospital. As you know, he was hit on the head by a bouncer and vomited, which was a bit worrying,” Nafees Iqbal said in a video message released by the BCB on Friday.

Miraz was hit by a bouncer on the edge of his helmet Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis during Bangladesh’s run chase. After the impact, Bangladesh physio Byjedul Islam Khan and the Australian team doctor assessed him on the field.

Despite feeling discomfort and vomiting during medical assessment, Miraz decided to continue batting. The Bangladesh captain remained unbeaten on 22 off 22 balls and hit a six to help his team complete the chase and seal a five-wicket DLS win.
