Cricket Hong Kong, China, Friday, August 22, announced a 20 -member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 and UAE for the preparation camp. Yasim Murtaza has been named Hong Kong captain, while Babur Hayat will be his deputy.
Hong Kong, China has booked its place in the Asia Cup after earning qualifications through the ACC Premier Cup 2024. He secured his place by crushing Nepal in the third place playoffs. The upcoming Continental Tournament will mark Hong Kong’s fifth overall appearance in the Asia Cup.

He has participated in four previous versions of the tournament in 2004, 2008, 2018 and 2022, and now he is expecting a strong impact under Yasim Murtaza, which is prescribed for his first major assignment as a skipper. The team will move towards UAE on 24 August.

However, before the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, Hong Kong team will play T20 matches during their preparation camp at UAE. His newly appointed head coach, Kaushal Silva, who is a former Sri Lankan batsman, will stop his term with the upcoming tournament.

The CHK said in an official statement, “We are excited to announce that the team will be the UAE heads for Hong Kong, China, an Asia Cup preparation camp. The tour will be a series of competitive preparation matches and training sessions designed for the team’s strategies ahead of the prestigious ACIA Cup.”

Meanwhile, Kaushal Silva said that Hong Kong’s final preparation for the tournament would begin with a UAE tour, where they are going with 20 players. Silva stated that comprehensive squad would “give him an opportunity to” assess each person and improve their skills and provide a chance to create strong bonds and create a winning mindset within the group.
Squad trains will appear in this tour and play in many places, in which special focus will be focused on under-lights sessions and suited for local pitch and weather conditions. The head coach believes that these preparations are important to give players the experience and confidence of the actual match ahead of the big tournament.
